Making SPARC Powerful!

We are extending the capability and functionality of SPARC. This page will be updated regularly.

In April 2024, SPARC AI developed the Interspace Application. It can record the distance of any object that is away from us without the assistance of any other sensors. Leveraging its proprietary patented algorithms it calculates the distance instantly.

One of the most common use cases to recording the distance of an object away from you is in the autonomous vehicle sector. Companies such as Tesla and Waymo use a variety of technologies that may include Lidar, Radar, Ultrasonic Sensors, and Laser. These technologies are often expensive and heavy that make them unpractical for use on drones.

You can see a video demo here.

The Interspace Application will be integrated into SPARC AI’s product suite including a microchip for ease of distribution and sales.

How to calculate distance using LiDAR?

By measuring the time required by the laser pulse to travel from the laser emitter to the laser sensor. The laser pulse will travel from the emitter to the object obstructing its path, and then reflected back.

DistanceToObject = (PulseTravelTime * SpeedOfLight) / 2.

Limitations:

Large investment into equipment. The accuracy is highly dependent on the quality and calibration of the system's scanner, IMU and GNSS components.

How about Ultrasonic Sensors?

Objects covered in a very soft materials absorb more sound waves making it hard for the sensor to see the target. Sensing accuracy also affected by changes in temperature of 5-10 degrees or more. They also have a limited detection range.
